— Young Sun Han is a visual artist, lecturer, and curator who articulates human stories through intersecting media: photography, moving image, durational performance, rituals, installation, and found objects. His work aims to reveal how individuals and communities negotiate and adapt to cultural forces in order to locate their sense of place within society and history. Han is an American citizen of Korean heritage and a New Zealand permanent resident. He works and lives in Brooklyn, NY and is a recent MFA graduate from the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. In the summer of 2018, he completed the Saas-Fee Summer Institute of Art residency in Berlin. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has studied abroad at Goldsmiths, University of London and the Kunsthochschule für Medien, Cologne, Germany. Han's work has been featured in many group exhibitions including: David Zwirner (NY), Printed Matter Inc. (NY), LMAK books+design (NY), Jean Albano Gallery (Chicago), Zolla/Lieberman (Chicago), Independent Brussels (Belgium), 4A Centre of Contemporary Art (Sydney, Australia), the Suter Contemporary Art Biennial (New Zealand), and The Dowse Art Museum (New Zealand).
