American, b. 1996 — Riana Gideon (she/her) is a curator, artist, and educator. She has taught workshops and courses at NYU Tisch, Penn Memory Center, Las Fotos Project, Bronx Documentary Center, Whitney Museum of American Art, Occidental College, Wallkill Prison, Josephine Herrick Project, and NYU Silver School of Social Work, among others. Riana has curated several exhibitions through her artist space ESPERANZA and at Photoville and NYU Golf & Western Gallery. She has been awarded numerous fellowships and grants, including the Imagining America Fellowship (2017/2018), the NYU Tisch Social Practice Award (2018), the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (2020), the SP2 Franklin Innovation Fellowship at the School of Social Policy & Practice (2021/2022) and a full tuition scholarship to the Weitzman School of Design (2022-2024). Riana graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2018 with a degree in Photography & Imaging. She is currently based in Philadelphia, PA, pursuing a dual degree at the University of Pennsylvania (MSW/MFA).
