American, b. 1981 — Mollie McKinley’s current work translates unseen aspects of the healing processes, uniting the ecological health of the earth with the health of human bodies. Elemental textures such as froth, algae, light, and burnt salt speak to the viscerality of being in a body; of cohabitating the earth with non-human intelligences. They use a variety of materials to embody these ideas, such as salt, glass, neon, photographs on textiles, performance, and text. McKinley’s work has been shown at Fridman Gallery, NADA, Pioneer Works, Independent Curators International, The Museum of Arts and Design, Momenta Art, Field Projects, Anthology Film Archives, and others. They were awarded a fellowship in glass at Wheaton Arts, and a two-year fellowship in sculpture and glass at Alfred University. McKinley holds a BA in photography from Bard College, and an MFA in sculpture/dimensional studies from Alfred University. Their works are held in private collections, as well as the permanent collection of the Samuel Dorsky Museum.
