Jody Lee Drafta is an artist and writer who works in sculpture, drawing and photography. She has exhibited throughout the U.S. and is included in the curated registries of White Columns and The Drawing Center in New York. Awards include a MacDowell Colony Residency and the Dozier Travel Grant from the Dallas Museum of Art. Jody writes about art and has published exhibition reviews of work by Katharina Grosse, Rebecca Horn, The Ungovernables show at The New Museum, and others. For two years, Jody has represented FRIEZE New York as a tour guide for FRIEZE NY. Jody was featured in the book The Artist’s Guide by Jackie Battenfield for the program she created to allow collectors to support her work and studio outside the gallery system. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jody received a B.A. in German Literature (Phi Beta Kappa) from Reed College where she wrote a thesis on the poetry of Paul Celan, a B.F.A from the University of Washington, Seattle, and an MFA from The Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Jody is based outside New York in Maplewood, New Jersey.
