American, — Jessica Spence (b. Westchester, NY) is a Jamaican-American artist whose work is inspired by her lived experiences and the women around her. She received her B.A. in Studio Art from Hartwick College, and an M.A. in Art Education with a concentration in Painting from Lehman College, The City University of New York (CUNY). She works predominantly in portraiture and is based in New York. Her work has been exhibited at the Hudson River Museum, Yonkers, NY; Bronx Art Space, Bronx, NY; Fordham University, Bronx, NY; The Andrew Freedman Home, Bronx, NY; Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education, Bronx, NY; and Thierry Goldberg Gallery, New York, NY. Spence’s artwork has been featured in publications such as The Oprah Magazine, June 2020 Issue; Colossal, The Jealous Curator, Essence GU, Nieman Reports by the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University, Vice, and more. Her work has also been featured on Beyonce.com Black Parade Directory.
