Dutch, — Frans van den Boogaard visual artist, working and living in France. The artist's work includes paintings of landscapes on board or canvas. A number of his works are influenced by the First World War. These are created by using original WorldWar 1 newspapers, with plaster, pigment and oilpaint. Since moving from the Gironde to the Pyrenées, he has been painting the local mountains, the landscapes of Morocco, as well as creating three-dimensional assemblages and installations. Frans van den Boogaard's themes may briefly summarised as concerning the transience of live, war and death, and the days during and after conflict. He approaches these concepts with playful irony and a particular sense of humour, which is dark at times, but more insouciant. In addition to traditional materials, Frans makes use of lead, rusted iron, rocks and organic matter, objects showing traces of decay and decomposition; where time leaves its mark His works testify to a vision of the fate of mankind and his solidarity with the vital and destructive forces of nature. Frans van den Boogaard studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving (Royal College of Art and Design), s'Hertogenbosch. Netherlands, from 1974 - 1978. He has had exhibitions in France, The Netherlands, Great Britain and Spain. His work is found in various collections, most prominently that of the Netherlands Consulate in Shanghai, China. www.fransvandenboogaard.com https://vimeo.com/409834679 https://fransvandenboogaar.wixsite.com/website
