Artist Eric Holzman

Eric Holzman

New York

Eric Holzman’s oil paintings and drawings are emotional, intimate and mysterious. He is trained as a modernist, and his work is connected to many traditions, some more ancient than others. He has spent his life painting from people and from nature, and all his work is informed by observation. Most paintings are in part from the imagination. His work is more dreamy and ethereal than realist. His favorite themes these last ten years have been figures in nature, which he paints with a delicate touch. Eric Holzman lives in SoHo, NYC. He attended Tyler School of Art where he met his master, John Moore, and later attended Yale Grad School. He spent summers at Skowhegan and the Studio School. Eric has received awards, among them a Guggenheim and a Pollock Krasner, and honors from the American and National Academy of which he is a member.
