About
South Korean b. 1995 — Doi Kim (born 1995 in Seoul, South Korea) is an artist living and working between Seoul, South Korea, and New York, NY. Doi Kim holds a BFA in Fine Arts from the Korea National University of Arts in Seoul, South Korea. She currently lives and works in New York, where she is pursuing an MFA in Fine Arts at The School of Visual Arts since 2019. The works she makes are grounded in a practice of printmaking but often borrowed from installation practices. She also tries to expand her boundary by trying various mediums such as animation. Her trip to South America, where she encountered a magnificent natural landscape, led her to explore the experience's complexity and sensuosity. She poses questions to reinstate the experiential quality of inscribed history and performs visual experiments of materialistic imagination through her work.
