Catherine Cullen is guided by a strong sense of poetic expression, spiritual inquiry and a passion for materials: metal, stone, wood and ceramic. Sculpture residencies: MacDowell Colony, Millay, VCCA, among others. Exhibitions include: Tree of Moons, Maker Park 2021, Future Ready, Anchorage Museum of Art 2020; Atlas of Affects, Slought Foundation 2020; Wise Child, curated by Zhoe Granger for White Columns Online 2019; World Holes curated by Jesse Greenberg for White Columns Online, 2018; Documentation of hot casting Counter Narrative at Urban Glass, Brooklyn was included in Emergency INDEX Vol. 6, performance journal, 2017; Stargazing, a curatorial Project with 3 other artists at Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn, April 11- May 16, 2014; Latitude Longitude at LIC 15 Gallery, Long Island City July, 2013; Significant Ordinaries, University Art Museum, California State University at Long Beach, CA 2013; Open Call of the 7th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, historiography 2012; Microscope Gallery, Bushwick, Brooklyn, Feb 2011; Found Object (Sculpture Involuntaire) was part of the Frieze Art Fair Impossible Exchange Open Call Project in October 2009. The artist apprenticed to potters in Mashiko, Japan, holds a BFA in Sculpture, University of Minnesota, and studied Experimental film/video, New School.
