Description
Self-portrait made of pressed flower petals. The collage emphasizes both our fundamental connection with our environment, we are nature, and the process of releasing control as a way to reconnect with my deepest self, thus against the patriarchal silos created since the Renaissance between nature and humans. Inspired by the Surrealists’ automatic writing, my process with this series of collages is intuitive and improvised, without preconceived composition, except here with the mirroring effect which reflects both the beautiful imperfection of natural systems and the complexity of the mind. My cultural influences and training also come through.
