Nice Rack, 2020

Hand & machine sewn digital images printed on velvet, thread, cotton thread, wood, galvanized piping, poly-fil This sculpture laments the duality of the phrase 'Nice Rack' and its root in male culture. i.e. "What a nice rack!" - Deer, hunting culture "She has a nice rack!" - Man referring to a woman's breasts 'Nice Rack' is the first stop in my adventure to explore this theme. Both male humans and male deer are hunting for something.Women/Does. Validation. Strength. Status. Desire. Food.Belonging. In these ways, the buck is the quintessential male symbol. A satire on the objectification of the deer as a stuffed prize and the female body, I transformed images of my body into hand sewn antlers mounted on a flesh form, slung over an augmented deer mount. My fleshy body is both sparkly antlers and wood paneling. I am becoming both the deer and the wall at the same time.
