2 unique 9.5" x13" prints Monotype with Reclaimed Ink on Red River Aurora Natural Photo Paper Salutations mines an archive of letters written to my grandmother by my grandfather, a man I never met. The letters provide a template to work with. To make these prints I scan, and print the original letters. I then proceed to trace my grandfather’s handwritten words, rendering the letters into an indecipherable new language. Existing between looking and reading the work shifts the narrative from one that is directly told to one that is more deeply felt and sits on the edge of my own identity. The work is a monoprint using reclaimed ink from empty inkjet cartridges and applied to inkjet photo paper and are a blend of photography, drawing and printmaking.
