Grin And Bear It, 2020

This is the original art piece. No reproductions will be me made due to its size. It is already framed in a nice black frame with 2 acrylic glass frames in the front and back. This piece has also been put into a statewide competition where it won a $500 award. This piece's concept is based around the pay discrepancy in America where a woman makes 80 cents for every dollar a man makes. So the idea was to represent a piece of work that showed what the pay discrepancy looks like in art. I showed the idea by tearing a hole through the paper so anyone could see the gap through the art. This is why it was uniquely framed with glass in the back to preserve that idea. Wherever this picture goes, the gape changes due to its surroundings, but the piece itself stays the same because everywhere it goes, the female is suppressed and made to smile in a toxic environment in order to survive.
