From Blood to Lust (Cross-Legged), 2020

This archival inkjet print is unframed and can be shipped in a tube. Ideally it would be mounted to aluminum with no glazing as the paper is luster to complement the material in the image. Please reach out to discuss framing and mounting options. Note: There is also a half-sized version at 20in h x 30in w in an edition of 7 with 2 APs. From Blood to Lust is a series of life-sized, self-portrait photographs wherein my body is fully consumed by the material in which it exists. I often look to the past for clarity in the present, and the excavation of Pompeii revealed a society where a patron of a bathhouse could publicly engage in sexual acts between two men or multiple partners of varied sexes. The color red has connotations ranging from pain to desire, commitment to rage, and I use it to infect these portraits with associations of daydreaming the need for camouflage. The images of bodies from Pompeii entombed in ash by the volcano Vesuvius in 79 CE directly inspire this project.
