Description
2020 Archival Pigment Print Edition of As the Veil Turns (2007), Nsenga Knight's portraits document Black women in the artist's Brooklyn Muslim community who converted to Islam prior to 1975 and pioneered some of the oldest Muslim communities in the United States. In collaboration with her documentary subjects, the artist centers their identity as a Black Muslim women in an autonomous space that engages with her Islamic and community legacy.
