Nature Preserve is a site-specific installation that can be re-configured for new sites and commissions. The piece focuses on illuminating plants native to each region the work is installed. For example the exhibit pictured was at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2011. It was made up of 30 - 8’ x 2” diameter hanging plastic tubes, illuminated by narrow spot halogen lights. Within each tube was a wetlands plant native to Michigan floating on top of nutrient enriched water. Nature Preserve was chosen as the first prize winner in the category of Best 3-D entry at Art Prize 2011 by Sculpture Magazine editor Glen Harper.
