This photograph was made on a tour of the American West in 2019. It is part of a larger series of work called orchid. The project spans three years worth of work and seeks to discuss contemporary modes of alienation and anonymity in the face of social pressure to constantly showcase oneself. Dressed in monochrome full body suits, the artist poses in natural settings as a way of anonymous recharging himself. This particular set of images was made while in Rocky Mountain National Park. We woke up before sunrise on the West Side of the Park and had to drive over the top of the Mountain where there was still 6 foot tall snowbanks in June. We say a white fox with a rabbit in its mouth at the top of the Mountain. When we arrived to this field we could see Elk grazing with their babies, which you can see in the distance in one of the pictures. As the Sun rose, the colors changed and the mist dissipated and the Elk retreated into the woods. orchid has been installed at Pioneer Works, Brooklyn, Hesse/Flatow, Fotografiska Museum, New York, NY, Port Authority Bus Terminal, New York, NY and has received grant support from the National Endowment of the Arts. Image is a set of 3, each 24x30 inches. It is an edition of 3, signed and editioned on verso. Archival Pigment Print, on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultrasmooth paper. Can be framed on request. Please allow at least 4 weeks for delivery.
