Old stories die loudly (burning palm tree), 2021

Oil on canvas panel. According to some Sumerian records, the palm may have been the original Tree of Life in Eden. Belatedly this tale would enter the Christian history, gaining importance with the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem (on Palm Sunday). For the Egyptians the date palm was a sacred tree associated with the Nile River and the regeneration of death to life. It is in the desert oases where you can identify sensual palm trees that provide peace of mind to the traveler. The burning palms are a symbol of a dying world, a nostalgic postcard. The reminder of the imminent vulnerability, the human arrogance and the merciless nature. Tragic beauty giving way to something new.
