From the series Garden of Living Images, 2018

Site-specific installation, Ink and colored pencils on transparent Mylar My 'artificial garden' references hanging Chinese scrolls and the longing for an imagined territory, such as the fabled Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Interested in how gardens reflect the connections between nature and culture in Eastern and Western societies. I was inspired by nature and responded to the late-fall landscape of Wave Hill Public Garden at the Bronx, New York. In the process of working on the paintings I stripped nature down to its most abstract form. Photos credit: Stan Nartenn.
