Description
Olivia Taylor is a multimedia sculptor focusing on material and materiality. She received a BFA from FIT and an MFA from Brooklyn College. Her work mainly focuses on material and materiality. She creates tactile, stylized and interactive sculptures using materials such as silicone, foam, plastic and readymade objects as well as videos in which they are used. The work plays with how material possessions adhere to and form different aspects of our identities, specifically her own. By replicating her face in the form of masks or different objects, she creates a commodity from my her identity. By transforming objects through material, a new meaning is formed, creating a new conception.
