Description
The Carnac Stones are a megalithic site in Brittany in northern France. Acres of perfectly aligned rocks embedded into the earth have stood for over 6 thousand years. The "why" has been and still is debated, the "how" as well. Are they tombs or monoliths to the dead? Are they mapping the stars? Did the ancient people really build ice luges from quarries to carry the rocks to these sites (miles away) during the winter months? In taking the photos used as the templates for these works i couldn't help but wonder - how does one investigate things so historically removed yet so physically present?
