PUTTING OFF THE ESSENTIAL, 2018

This work is part of a larger series entitled, "Long-Lasting Chew." made in the years 2017 and 2018. Originally shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, while working on this piece I was thinking about self-made barriers and the things I know my heart wants that my mind won't always let it have. The text featured in the print was my 2018 New Years resolution, derived from a tweet I wrote at 8:34 pm January 5th, 2018. The text reads, "Perhaps you should follow ur heart and not ur logic this time." The featured text and the title of the work are in dialogue with one another. The title, "PUTTING OFF THE ESSENTIAL" is a stubborn response to the resolution I made, implying that sometimes it appears more practical to go with logic rather than gut feeling, which inevitably is just "putting off the essential."
