Purpose Foul, 2020

Wearable sculpture, unframed. Edition 1/1 This was created during the height of pandemic in March 2020. It is part of a series called "Outfit for Pandemic." With the stay at home orders in place, I had to develop a studio practice I could do in my bedroom so I began embroidering clothes that were already in my closet. This piece in particular was inspired by the closing of public basketball courts. In basketball, an intentional foul is deliberately committed by a defensive player to stop play. With life on hold due to pandemic restrictions, I found this idea to be relatable. Many people had to either choose to continue working or put life on pause to stay safe. It was a heavy decision to make for many people, including myself.
