Tethered I, 2021

Some of the pigmented portions of this recent work were hand-dyed with materials foraged from the Mass Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary in Wellfleet, MA. The dyed string was crocheted and fashioned into sculptural forms after being dredged in a mixture of glues. The individual bits were arranged and adhered to a velvet-covered base, in the style of a taxonomical or botanical specimen. This is one of a series of works I have made to date using this specific technique. The work is outfitted with wall-hanging hardware.
