Description
In his ongoing project “A Room for the Night”, Yudzon travels to different hotels around the world secretly making and photographing temporary sculptural assemblages using only the furniture and objects found in each room. Evoking totems, religious altars or modernist sculpture, the installations transform the hotel rooms’ mundane interiors into theaters of beauty and absurdity. Once these sculptures are completed they are photographed in an austere black and white style reminiscent of crime scene photography. Yudzon works alone, following a strict set of rules. After the sculpture is photographed, the room is carefully returned to its original condition, the photograph acting as the only evidence of the event.
