Description

Here (In Reverie) was created after visiting a sandy, barren area of Utah's west desert. The sculpture is part of series (In Reverie) - a nostalgic expression at the natural world with attention to its complex animate ecosystems. The structure resembles curvatures and appendages of organic lifeforms with heads, mouths, feet and bodies. The surface distinguishes each object to a specific place in a combination of slips, washes, stains and glazes. When it comes to ceramics, I like to know the rules and figure out where to break them. This piece has a low fire lava glaze over other matte and glossy materials creating beautiful, but delicate textures.
