Polish,   —   B. 1991, Rzeszow, Poland Anna Mielniczuk’s work strives to capture a whimsical spirit that aims to uplift, provoke thought, and instill wonder in the viewer. Guided by curiosity and citing her immigrant upbringing as a major influence, Anna describes her artistic practice as an ongoing exploration of mystery, hope, humor, and beauty. She also creates work under the guise of Ania Greta Studio. Anna earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute in 2019. Prior to that, she attended City Colleges of Chicago. Anna has exhibited her work in numerous gallery spaces and educational institutions around the United States and Italy. Most recently, she has had work in the Anima Mundi International Arts Festival at the Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice. Her paintings and writing have been published in several publications including: Werks Magazine: Chicago Artist Survey (2021) ; And Then- Stories of What Happens Next, by Agitator Gallery (2020) ; and Fragments by Thalia Magazine (2019) . She is a vendor at Buddy-an artist shop and project by Public Media Institute in collaboration with DCASE (The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events) as well as Good Things Vending located inside the Chicago Cultural Center. During her undergrad studies, she volunteered her art skills for numerous projects as a design cohort member for 826CHI. In 2019, her work was on display at the Chicago Public Library for Polish American Heritage Month. That year she was also awarded a certificate of merit from The Pinacotheque. In 2018, she participated in IVYnode’s transdisciplinary residency, ‘A Call to Origins’, in collaboration with Stazione dell’Arte and BecomeBecome, culminating in an artist talk at the The Stazione dell’ Arte Contemporary Art Museum in Ulassai and an exhibit in Nurri. Her work has also been featured on contemporary digital galleries such as Still Here, Still Life ; Primer Contemporary ; The Idea Foundation ; and The Hopper Prize. Her motivation for making artwork is centered around the simple idea and belief that art is necessary to life and growth.
