Built to Specifications
Note to (our)self(ves): this is a curated series exploring language-based works revolving around the idea of physical or conceptual measurement or something built to a criteria, usually numeric or theoretical, within a private or public place. These selected artworks reflect on the politics of hierarchy or the concept of measurement as a driving force within capitalist systems to determine the value of objects/things/ideas. Curator Albert Abdul-Barr Wang looked at works which incorporated a subversion of standard measurement practices or embedded numbers within the works' shared materialities.
